IPL (Intense pulsed light) is a light-based hair-removal method, that targets the melanin (pigment) inside the hair to interrupt the hair growth cycle and prevent hair regrowth, without damaging the skin.
How IPL works
The light energy is transferred through the skin’s surface and absorbed by the melanin present in the hair shaft.
The absorbed light is converted to heat energy (below the surface of the skin) which disables the hair follicle preventing further growth.
Treated hairs naturally fall out over a period that can vary from a few days to 1-2 weeks depending on the individual.
Repeat every week for 12 weeks to catch each hair during its growth phase.

Is IPL suitable for me?
IPL technology is based on the relation between melanin in the skin and hair, which means it can be ineffective for light-haired users and unsafe for deep-skinned users. IPL is very effective on skintones 1-5 on blonde to dark hair.

What does a treatment feel like?
IPL (intense pulsed light) hair removal is typically less painful than lasers and waxing. This is because IPL uses a multi-spectrum bulb vs a single-wavelength laser. A SmoothSkin treatment can feel a little unusual at first. Remember its different for everyone. It can also depend on the areas being treated, including legs, underarm, bikini area, chest, face and more.
